J. Paul Hurt, Managing Director of MetLife St. Louis was honored to present a MetLife Foundation Community-Police Partnership Award to the Westside Community Action Network Center of Kansas City, MO. The award recognized the Center as the winner in the “Diversity Inclusion and Integration” category, selected from more than 650 applicants nationwide. The Center and the Kansas City Police Department partnered in what began as outreach services for Latino day laborers and has developed into a pick-up and drop-in center, addressing community concerns about violence, disorder and crime. The success of this partnership can be attributed to the extraordinary drive and tireless effort on the part of Executive Director Lynda Callon, an unwavering commitment to the vision by Chief Corwin, and the dedication of the officers located at the Center. As Chief Corwin stated, “If I could clone these three people across Kansas City, we would reduce crime by 50%.” Congratulations Westside Community Action Network Center!
